Sherfield Village Brewery (SVB) is an independent microbrewery set up in May 2011 (following a three-month build) by Peter Cook who, in the early stages, is brewer, salesman, cleaner, delivery driver and general dogsbody. The brewery is sited on a working farm, and is a five-barrel brew length plant, meaning that each brew produces a maximum of 20 firkins.

As a small brewery, we have the flexibility to produce any of a wide range of beers at relatively short notice. By sticking to a local (or locale) area, we are also able to deliver at a time that suits the landlord or event organizer.

SVB is based in Sherfield on Loddon, a few miles north of Basingstoke, ten miles south of Reading. Our immediate area of interest is the whole of Hampshire, most of Berkshire, western areas of Surrey and London, plus a few miles into Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and West Sussex, but we'll go a bit further for something special!

At present, we are using only plastic firkins. These are lighter, cheaper and much less attractive to thieves, but we do understand that some may have reservations about them. We will be obtaining some metal casks in the future, but for the time being, it's plastic or nothing.

We're also planning to bottle our beers in the near future, but there's a bit of research to be done. Heart says 'bottle-conditioned', head says 'how complicated??'

We don't currently have facilities for visitors, so please call ahead if you wish to come to the brewery.
